People are starting to ask me a lot about how to promote their restaurant on Twitter. I’m certainly not an expert and have only been posting myself for a few months.
Here is one good tip on how to get your message out there.
When you tweet about your menu, consider linking your post to your website (assuming it’s updated). If it’s your menu you’re highlighting, be sure to post a link to that specific page. Most likely your visitors will be able to navigate back out to your home page.
The only hurdle left is to shrink the web address that directs people to the exact page you want them to see. If you have a corporate site with multiple locations, again, point them to the specific information that you want them to see and let them navigate back out to see your home page and other restaurants in your group if you have them.
http://tinyurl.com/ is an easy one.
http://bit.ly/ is another one that lets you post to Twitter right from their website.
Remember the whole point is to drive traffic to your website so that people learn more about your restaurant!
If you haven’t done it already, you should add your website to your Twitter page by editing the settings. There is a place to add a url (that would be your web address). Or you could also put the link to your Facebook page if you have one.
Let me know how it goes!
